The Nerfed World of LinkedIn
The ability to disagree is foundational for building trust with another person. Think about the people you trust most, and why. Chances are, this is a common thread.

I was recently blocked by a sales industry “thought leader” after disagreeing with their post.
There was no reply to my comment. No exchange. Just blocked.
Here’s my two cents on what this represents:
The opportunity for healthy discourse on LinkedIn is growing increasingly smaller.
In this Nerfed environment—where our feeds are populated with hand-wavy sales bros, meaningless polls, and posts that are nothing but a front for selling us “how to build our personal brand” coaching—we’re moving further and further away from tangible value, connection, and trust.
Hot takes, platitudes, and engagement pods have taken over this platform.
As a result, utility has fallen straight off a cliff.
If you can’t handle someone respectfully disagreeing with you—or worse, you don’t have a response that helps readers gain new perspective—you (and we collectively) are in serious trouble.
The ability to disagree is foundational for building trust with another person. Think about the people you trust most, and why. Chances are, this is a common thread.
But because of this lack of healthy discourse, developing trust with a stranger—someone you might even want to collaborate with—is becoming damn near impossible online.
We need dialogue around relevant topics.
We need space for context and nuance.
We need original thinkers of all stripes.
We need conversation. Period.
How else are we supposed to emerge from our echo chambers and do, build, make, and create—together.
